One thing is pretty clear…
If you have a fear of sharks you might have a difficult time shopping in and around South Carolina. Whether it was a movement at a particular time in building design history or a personal choice by business owners who live close to a body of water, the shark designs incorporated in these buildings are interesting choices. If you are traveling through the state, be sure to check these out.
Garden City Beach
If you find yourself in search of resort wear and shopping in Garden City Beach area of South Carolina, then head over to Jaws Resort Wear for a unique shopping experience. The entrance to the store requires shoppers to walk through the mouth of a 50-foot-long fiberglass shark. To get a picture with the shark just head to 3055 South Highway 17. It is worth a side trip to check it out.
North Myrtle Beach
Once again the giant shark entrance appears in Garden City Beach, continuing the trend for beachwear stores in the state. In North Myrtle Beach sits a bargain beachwear store whose entrance looks like a replica of the original movie poster for Jaws. Gray and pink with a half ring of teeth, visitors to the store must walk through the gigantic mouth in order to shop for bargain swimwear. The store can be found on the SW corner of Windy Hill Road and US 17.
After you spend a couple of hours in North Myrtle Beach, head on over to Myrtle Beach to the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove to discover all things kitsch. The store, whose sign features three happy dolphin frolicking, refers to itself as the world’s largest gift shop. It is highly possible that it is since it has more than 70,000 items packed into 30,000 square feet of space. Whether you are looking for a gift for your house sitter or a quirky keychain for yourself, you are bound to find the perfect gift here. The best part is that they too have a giant shark onsite. The store is located at 916 North Ocean Boulevard at the corner of 9th in Myrtle Beach.
